Ballroom Dance Rundown

Waltz

Waltz is a smooth, progressive ballroom and folk dance, normally in about this sound triple time, performed primarily in closed position. Waltz moves around the floor counter clockwise.

Tango

Tango is a Ballroom Dance that branched away from its original Argentinian roots by allowing European, American, Hollywood, and competitive influences into the style and execution of the dance.

This is a dramatic dance style that is popular in the United States and all over the world. It is characterized by sharp, staccato movements and a passionate attitude.

Viennese Waltz

Viennese Waltz is a rotary dance where the dancers are constantly turning either toward the leader's right (a natural turn) or toward the leader's left (a reverse turn), with non-rotating change steps to switch between the direction of rotation. This dance originates from Vienna.

Foxtrot

Foxtrot is a smooth, progressive dance characterized by long, continuous flowing movements across the dance floor. It is danced to big band (usually vocal) music. The dance is similar in its look to Waltz, although the rhythm is in a 4/4 time signature instead of 3/4.

Quickstep

The movement of the dance is fast and powerfully flowing, sprinkled with syncopation. The upbeat melodies that Quickstep is danced to make it suitable for both formal and informal events. When advanced the quickstep can become a very hoppy progressive dance that looks as light as a feather when danced properly! This one is a bundle of fun to watch!
